Today, the Research and Development Foundation (RDF), in collaboration with Sindh Technical and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) and with technical support from Welthungerhilfe (WHH), Germany, successfully organized the kickoff workshop for the project titled “Skill Up Plus: Strengthening the TVET Sector through Promoting Green Skills.”
The workshop marked the formal launch of this transformative initiative aimed at integrating green skills into Pakistan’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
The event featured a compelling keynote address by Mr. Tarique Manzoor, Managing Director of Sindh TEVTA, who emphasized the critical role of green skills in shaping a sustainable workforce and reaffirmed STEVTA’s commitment to strengthening the TVET ecosystem in Sindh.
This was followed by an insightful speech by Mr. Masood Mahesar, Executive Director of RDF, who outlined the challenges and opportunities in the sector and stressed the importance of collective action and innovation in skills development.
A detailed project presentation was then delivered by Mr. Akmal Khan and Mr. Sarwan Baloch of WHH, highlighting the objectives, scope, and strategic approach of the Skill Up Plus project.
A key highlight of the event was the panel discussion featuring distinguished representatives from STEVTA, UNDP, NAVTTC, private sector industries, and trade associations. Panelists stressed the urgency of incorporating green competencies into vocational training curricula and called for a multi-stakeholder approach to accelerate sustainable development in the TVET ecosystem.
The valuable insights shared during the discussion will serve as guiding principles for the project’s strategic direction moving forward.
The “Skill Up Plus” project is funded by Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and implemented by RDF, in partnership with STEVTA, to strengthen institutional capacities, promote green skills, and create more sustainable and future-ready vocational training opportunities across Sindh.
